VB.Net

VB.Net is a simple, modern, object-oriented computer programming language developed by Microsoft to combine the power of .NET Framework and the common language runtime with the productivity benefits that are the hallmark of Visual Basic. This tutorial will teach you basic VB.Net programming and will also take you through various advanced concepts related to VB.Net programming language.

About Visual Basic

Visual Basic is a third-generation event-driven programming language first released by Microsoft in 1991. It evolved from the earlier DOS version called BASIC. BASIC means Beginners' All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code.
Since then Microsoft has released many versions of Visual Basic, from Visual Basic 1.0 to the final version Visual Basic 6.0. Visual Basic is a user-friendly programming language designed for beginners, and it enables anyone to develop GUI window applications easily. In 2002, Microsoft released Visual Basic.NET(VB.NET) to replace Visual Basic 6.
Thereafter, Microsoft declared VB6 a legacy programming language in 2008. Fortunately, Microsoft still provides some form of support for VB6. VB.NET is a fully object-oriented programming language implemented in the .NET Framework. It was created to cater for the development of the web as well as mobile applications. However, many developers still favor Visual Basic 6.0 over its successor Visual Basic.NET

About C#

C# is pronounced as "C-Sharp". It is an object-oriented programming language provided by Microsoft that runs on .Net Framework. By the help of C# programming language,
we can develop different types of secured and robust applications: Window applications Web applications Distributed applications Web service applications Database applications etc.
C# is approved as a standard by ECMA and ISO. C# is designed for CLI (Common Language Infrastructure). CLI is a specification that describes executable code and runtime environment. C# programming language is influenced by C++, Java, Eiffel, Modula-3, Pascal etc.

Applications of C++ Programming

As mentioned before, C++ is one of the most widely used programming languages. It has it's presence in almost every area of software development. I'm going to list few of them here:

  • Application Software Development

  •  C++ programming has been used in developing almost all the major Operating Systems like Windows, Mac OSX and Linux. Apart from the operating systems, the core part of many browsers like Mozilla Firefox and Chrome have been written using C++. C++ also has been used in developing the most popular database system called MySQL.

  • Programming Languages Development

  •  C++ has been used extensively in developing new programming languages like C#, Java, JavaScript, Perl, UNIX’s C Shell, PHP and Python, and Verilog etc.

  • Computation Programming

  •  C++ is the best friends of scientists because of fast speed and computational efficiencies.

  • Games Development

  •  C++ is extremely fast which allows programmers to do procedural programming for CPU intensive functions and provides greater control over hardware, because of which it has been widely used in development of gaming engines.

  • Embedded System

  •  C++ is being heavily used in developing Medical and Engineering Applications like softwares for MRI machines, high-end CAD/CAM systems etc.

This list goes on, there are various areas where software developers are happily using C++ to provide great softwares. I highly recommend you to learn C++ and contribute great softwares to the community.v

Facts about C

  • C was invented to write an operating system called UNIX.
  •  C is a successor of B language which was introduced around the early 1970s.
  •  The language was formalized in 1988 by the American National Standard Institute (ANSI).
  •  The UNIX OS was totally written in C.
  •  Today C is the most widely used and popular System Programming Language.
  •  Most of the state-of-the-art software have been implemented using C.
